While Liverpool and Newcastle are locked in a tug-of-war over Alexander Isak's future, a young Red is set to head to Tyneside after turning down a new contract on Merseyside.

Isak has become the biggest story of this summer transfer window as the Swede finds himself out in the cold at Newcastle and is keen to join the defending Premier League champion.

Magpies boss Eddie Howe has had to field questions about Isak's future daily in recent weeks, and Liverpool have now boosted their war chest for a potential new bid for Isak by offloading Darwin Nunez to Saudi Arabian team Al-Hilal.

But far from the mega-bucks involved in that deal, 16-year-old Reds midfielder Isaac Moran has chosen to exit Liverpool's academy and make the switch to Newcastle.

A former England youth captain, Moran was promoted from Liverpool's under-16s to their under-18s for the last three matches of the previous season, playing the full 90 minutes in games against Nottingham Forest, Wolves and Sunderland.

However, he's now set to depart for Newcastle after rejecting a scholarship contract at Liverpool.

Moran, who is managed by ex-Reds vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold's PLG Agency, took to Instagram to announce his decision to part ways with the Reds.

Accompanied by a montage of photos charting his journey from youth player to first team, including a training session with Jurgen Klopp and a snapshot of him as a ballboy during Mohamed Salah's title-sealing goal against Tottenham.
