Chelsea host AC Milan at Stamford Bridge
Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea are back at Stamford Bridge for the second time in three days to complete their two-match pre-season campaign, hosting AC Milan. The Blues made a strong start to their Premier League preparations last time out, producing a comfortable 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen. The match gave fans plenty of reason to be optimistic for the new campaign, too, as new signings Estevao and Joao Pedro starred.
There are concerns, of course, that playing such a short pre-season could have ramifications later in the season, but Chelsea seem to be effectively carrying their momentum from the Club World Cup, which they won less than four weeks ago. Milan were not present at the summer tournament, but have nonetheless enjoyed an effective offseason, with wins over Liverpool and Perth Glory in earlier friendlies balanced out by a loss to Arsenal and draw with Leeds.
