Eddie Howe has refuted reports that Newcastle United have blocked Alexander Isak’s potential move to Liverpool.
Isak has informed Newcastle of his desire to leave the club amid an approach from Liverpool. The Swedish striker did not join up with the Magpies for their pre-season tour of Asia and is currently training away from the first-team squad.

His uncertain future represents a headache for Howe, whose side start their Premier League campaign at Aston Villa on Saturday.
Newcastle turned down a bid of around £110m for Isak, and reports this week have suggested that the club’s owners will not allow the unsettled striker to leave.
However, Howe has said he has ‘no knowledge’ of a firm block from the owners regarding a potential exit for Isak.
Speaking after Newcastle’s 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in pre-season yesterday, Howe said: “No, that’s not something I’m aware of. I’m not party to all discussions, but I have no knowledge of that.”
Alongside the Isak situation, Newcastle are continuing to work on incomings. AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw to fly to England this evening and begin his medical tomorrow morning ahead of £35m move to St James’ Park.
Interest also remains in Brentford forward Yoane Wissa, while the Magpies are considering an approach for FC Porto’s Samu Aghehowa.
