Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso is making his mark early at the Santiago Bernabeu, and discipline is high on his priority list.
In fact, according to DefensaCentral, the new boss has introduced a strict rule that any player who arrives late to training will be fined.
Alonso wants his players ready and committed from the first whistle of the day. Training sessions now officially begin at 9:30 a.m., and everyone is expected to be present on time.
Even the slightest delay is met with a financial penalty, a measure aimed at instilling punctuality and focus in the squad.
Unfortunately, the first breach of this rule happened today. Cameras captured Dani Ceballos arriving eight minutes late.
It must be remembered that Ceballos finds himself in a tricky position at Real Madrid. His contract runs until 30 June 2027, and although Real Betis have shown interest in bringing him back, they are not prepared to meet Madrid’s asking price.

Los Blancos value the midfielder at €10–12 million, and matching his current salary would be another challenge for potential buyers.
For now, Ceballos is fully committed to the club. He wants regular game time and hopes to play an important role under Alonso.
Given Real Madrid’s current midfield depth, letting him go doesn’t appear to make sense. The team has a few players with his specific profile, and he could be a valuable asset throughout the season, much like he was under Carlo Ancelotti last year.
While today’s late arrival might not define his future, Ceballos will need to ensure it doesn’t happen again if he wants to remain in Alonso’s plans for the long term.
