Hojlund makes'transfer U-turn'after Sesko arrival with offer on the table

Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund is reportedly 'reluctantly' prepared to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Hojlund was an unused substitute against Fiorentina on Saturday afternoon, as the Red Devils ended their preparations for the 2024-25 campaign with a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Man United have signed Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig to be their new number one striker, and the 20-time English champions are now allegedly attempting to move Hojlund on.

During the club's pre-season tour of the United States, Hojlund made it clear that he wanted to remain with the 20-time English champions and fight for his spot, even if a new striker arrived.

That is still thought to have been the case on Saturday despite the fact that he received zero minutes against Fiorentina.

However, according to talkSPORT, Hojlund has now completed a 'transfer U-turn', with the former Atalanta BC forward willing to leave Man United this summer.

Hojlund 'willing to leave Man United' as 'Milan make offer'

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, AC Milan are the clear favourites for Hojlund, with the Italian outfit proposing an initial loan deal for the 2025-26 campaign.

Romano claims that the Serie A team are willing to pay €6m (£5.2m) in terms of a loan fee, and there will be the option to sign him on a permanent basis for €45m (£39m) during next summer's transfer window.

Hojlund's entire Man United salary would allegedly be covered by Milan during the 2025-26 season.

The 22-year-old has scored 26 times and registered six assists in 95 appearances for Man United since arriving from Atalanta in 2023, but he only netted four goals in the Premier League last term.

Amorim: 'We struggled without a striker against Fiorentina'

Man United head coach Ruben Amorim said that his side found it difficult without a striker against Fiorentina, with Sesko only arriving on Saturday morning, while Hojlund was an unused substitute.

Joshua Zirkzee also missed out once again through injury, while 17-year-old Chido Obi also did not feature off the bench in the team's final pre-season friendly of the summer.

“I think they [Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo] are maybe 50/60% of what they can do. I think, like any other team, we are going to improve during the season, they are going to be so much better," Amorim told reporters.

"In some moments I felt that we, because of the one-v-one in all the pitch, we struggle without a reference as a striker. We have a new player [Benjamin Sesko] so we’ll see.”

Sesko will now have a full week of training with his new teammates with a view to making his debut for the club in next Sunday's Premier League opener with Arsenal at Old Trafford.
