From the notebook of a sportswriter who watched the Steelers' first preseason game again so you don't have to:

* Decent entertainment. No injuries. Steelers held on to beat a determined Jaguars team playing at home under a new coach, 31-25. New coaches always play to win in opening preseason games, especially at home. It's why he started his starters, to quote Bill Cowher.

* The Steelers wanted to win, too. Yes, they played Logan Woodside at QB in their final series, but they also brought in Jack Sawyer and DeMarvin Leal off the bench for the Jaguars' final drive. Mike Tomlin wanted to win a bit, too.
