Demands 'laid out' for Liverpool left-back exit after key Slot decision

Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas, who was omitted from the Reds' matchday squad for the Community Shield, is reportedly the subject of growing interest from across Europe.

The Greece international has been bumped further down the pecking order at Anfield following the arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, and the Hungary international unsurprisingly made the first XI at Wembley.

The long-serving Andrew Robertson was named among the replacements, while Federico Chiesa - who has also been linked with an exit this summer - was selected over Tsimikas.

The former Olympiacos man nevertheless made appearances in three of Liverpool's summer friendlies - including their 4-1 thrashing of Athletic Bilbao - but his future seemingly lies away from Anfield.

According to journalist Paul Joyce, Tsimikas is now attracting more glances from the Premier League and abroad after an enquiry from Nottingham Forest earlier in the transfer window.

Liverpool reportedly have no interest in loaning out the left-back, though, and they will only accept permanent offers for the 29-year-old, whose contract runs for another two years.

It is unclear how much the Premier League champions would demand to sanction Tsimikas's exit, but they can realistically expect a profit on the £11.3m they paid Olympiacos for his signature in 2020.

Since then, the defender - affectionately nicknamed the 'Greek Scouser' - has made 115 appearances for Liverpool in all competitions, setting up 18 goals but failing to score a single goal.

Tsimikas has been a perpetual backup to established number one Robertson for the past five years, though, starting just nine Premier League games in the 2024-25 campaign en route to the title.

Robertson was believed to have been on Atletico Madrid's radar earlier this summer, but the Scotsman international is set to stay put for at least one more year, meaning Tsimikas's minutes would reduce further in 2025-26.

Who else could leave Liverpool in summer transfer window?

For all of their well-documented summer spending, Liverpool have been quietly raising funds in the nine figures through several sales, continuing their trend of obtaining sizeable fees for outgoing players.

The Reds have just banked £46m through the sale of Darwin Nunez to Al-Hilal after selling Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich for just over £65m, and more attacking departures could be sealed in the coming weeks.

Despite all being included in the Community Shield matchday squad, Chiesa, Harvey Elliott and Ben Doak should be allowed to leave if the right offer is tabled, potentially vacating space for a certain Alexander Isak.

Injury-plagued right-back Calvin Ramsay could also either be loaned out or sold before the September 1 deadline, in addition to Rhys Williams, although the latter could very well stay put as an emergency option given Liverpool's lack of central defensive cover.
