Former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III wants to the Pittsburgh Steelers feed tight Darnell Washington this season.
That comes after Mason Rudolph lasted a ball up the seam to Washington, who has played at a high-level in training camp, for the 19-yard touchdown. Griffin wants to see his involvement as a receiver increase.
“All 6’7 270lbs of Darnell Washington running down the seam is a hard thing to stop. He has been having a great training camp especially coming alive in the redzone. Pittsburgh has to feed the big man more this season,” Griffin said.
Washington has made a lot of plays in the passing game, too. He has become a favorite of Aaron Rodgers already, only adding to the mystique the 6-foot-7 tight end brings.
While there has been some talk from the fanbase about moving Washington to offensive tackle, it certainly seems like there is little reason to make the move given how he has played as a receiver.
Yet, to Griffin’s point, Washington has just 26 receptions in his entire career. This season, he should at least equal that amount in one season given what he has shown.
