Former Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has tipped Chelsea to challenge for the EPL title in the coming season. The Dutchman was full of praise for the Blues after they beat his Bayer Leverkusen side 2-0 in a recent friendly game.
Discussing his opponent’s ability to be crowned English champions at the end of the upcoming campaign, Ten Hag told HaytersTV:
“I think so. You always have to see how the season develops. That is a lot about injuries, but they have a big squad. All the teams you see, they invest so much in the Premier League in this transfer window. There are many teams who can in this moment construct a very good team… It’s very difficult to say in this moment who is favourite because I think five or six in this moment are able to win the league.”
Chelsea head into the upcoming Premier League campaign in confident fashion after recently beating UEFA Champions League holders PSG 3-0 to be crowned champions of the world. They begin their league campaign on August 17th against fellow Londoners, Crystal Palace.
Chelsea Face AC Milan
Chelsea face the Rossioneri in their final preseason game before the new football season commences. The FIFA Club World Cup winners face the Italian giants in a game that will see three former Blues stars, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Fikayo Tomori, and Christian Pulisic return to their old stomping grounds. Enzo Maresca’s side are in a fine patch of form, going unbeaten in their last five appearances going back to the Club World Cup and conceding only twice while scoring 13.
Milan, on the other hand, will be playing just their fourth game since the end of their previous league obligations, and have bagged wins against Liverpool and Perth Glory after losing to Arsenal in their first friendly game. The Blues have a stellar record against their Milanese opponents, winning their last four clashes with the side from Lombardy.
