Man City star waiting for Spurs to show interest

Erling Haaland was on target as Manchester City beat Italian side Palermo 3-0 in their final friendly of the summer on Saturday.

The Norwegian striker put the Citizens ahead before midfielder Tijjani Reijnders scored twice after the break in Sicily, with Pep Guardiola’s side cruising to a comfortable victory.

City travel to face Wolves on the opening weekend of the new Premier League season, before hosting Tottenham Hotspur in their first home game.

This summer has been a busy one for City, who endured a difficult campaign last term and failed to win a major trophy.

Now, it appears that one member of Guardiola’s squad is waiting for a Premier League rival to realise their interest in him.

As reported by GiveMeSport, City midfielder James McAtee is waiting on Tottenham to make a move for him after learning of the North London club’s interest.

It is claimed that the Englishman has recently been made aware that Spurs are interested in him, with the player willing to wait to secure a move to the capital.

City are said to value the 22-year-old at around £40 million, while Nottingham Forest have already failed with an offer in the region of £25 million for the player.

McAtee is a product of City’s youth system but has struggled to force his way into the first team over a prolonged period of time.

In total the midfielder has played 34 times for Guardiola’s side, but he opted to captain England at the Under-21s European Championships earlier this summer as opposed to playing for City at the FIFA Club World Cup, making it almost certain that he will depart The Etihad this summer.

The youngster is contracted to City until the end of the upcoming season, but it appears almost certain that he will depart the club before the end of the current transfer window.
