Chelsea hoping to offload two attackers

Chelsea defeated Italian giants AC Milan 4-1 in their final friendly of the summer on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues paraded their FIFA Club World Cup and Europa Conference League trophies in front of the crowd at Stamford Bridge prior to Sunday’s match, before Enzo Maresca’s side cruised to a routine victory.

The hosts went ahead early on when Andrei Coubis put through his own net, before Joao Pedro doubled their advantage.

Coubis was then sent off, and substitute Liam Delap then netted a second-half brace to ensure Maresca’s side finished their pre-season campaign on a positive note.

The Bleus host London rivals Crystal Palace in their first match of the new Premier League season, before a visit to West Ham United.

In the meantime, it appears that the West London giants are still very active in the transfer market.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are trying to offload both Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku in order to create space in Maresca’s squad for two new arrivals.

The journalist claims that the Blues are hoping to sign both Xavi Simons and Alejandro Garnacho – from RB Leipzig and Manchester United respectively – however they must first sell players.

It is also claimed that both Nkunku and youngster Tyrique George have been discussed as part of a possible swap deal with Leipzig.

Nkunku, 27, joined Chelsea from Leipzig in 2023 but was plagued by injury during his first season in London, and then struggled to establish himself as a regular starter last term.

Jackson, meanwhile, has been sent off in two of his last four games across all competitions, and has fallen down the pecking order following the arrivals of both Joao Pedro and Liam Delap at Stamford Bridge.

It is claimed that the Blues remain in discussions with their German counterparts about a move for Simons, with both George and Nkunku also mentioned during talks about a deal for the Dutchman.

George, 19, is a product of Chelsea’s fruitful youth system and has broke into the first team at Stamford Bridge over the past year.

In total he has played 26 times for the Blues at senior level, scoring three goals and registering five assists.
