Leeds United injury state of play as Daniel Farke gives double update

Leeds United do not have long to wait before they are officially back in Premier League action. The Whites secured promotion from the Championship last term to return to the top flight, winning the title ahead of rivals Burnley.

Daniel Farke and co. will now gear up for their Premier League opener against Everton on August 18. The Whites will host the Toffees at Elland Road in their first fixture back in the top flight. However, Farke will have to deal with some injury and fitness concerns ahead of their Premier League opener.

Jayden Bogle and summer signing Sebastiaan Bornauw both missed the 1-1 draw with AC Milan on Saturday with injuries. Farke explained he is optimistic that Bogle, who has been sidelines with a hip injury, can recover in time to play some part in the season opener against Everton.

"He [Bogle] has improved. Already back on the grass. He's been out for two weeks, not ideal," Farke told reporters on Saturday.

"I hope to have him back in the next week so he can be [involved] in squad vs Everton. I hope desperately he can make it and is ready to play. He's missed the last two weeks - not ideal preparation for the first game."

Bornauw has also been suffering from an injury ahead of his debut season with Leeds, and Farke believes the defender is on course to return to training in the near future.

"We hope to have him back and join team training sometime next week, so that's good news. Middle of next week should be latest - team training, will have to see how body reactions."

Leeds are expected to be without at least one summer signing for their opener against Everton, with Jaka Bijol sidelined with a suspension.

The defender picked up two yellow cards in his final league match for Udinese last season and was handed a one-match ban, which will carry over into his time as a Leeds player.
