Potential Trevoh Chalobah injury worries eased at full-time of Chelsea's pre-season win vs AC Milan

Those inside Stamford Bridge collectively held their breath early into the second half as one of the Chelsea players was unable to continue the pre-season friendly against AC Milan.

Trevoh Chalobah seemed to roll his ankle when challenging for the ball, and was forced off and replaced by Josh Acheampong as the defensive options continued to dwindle.

Levi Colwill is set to be out for the majority of the season after a serious knee injury, and the two pre-season friendlies came too soon for Wesley Fofana in his return to full fitness.

Chelsea ran out dominant 4-1 winners against the Italian giants, with strikers Joao Pedro and Liam Delap scoring three goals between them in a near-perfect afternoon in West London.

Trevoh Chalobah involved in Chelsea trophy lift despite injury

The Blues do not need to lose another centre-back just days before the new season gets underway though, and everyone will be eager to hear the full diagnosis of Chalobah’s problem.

As Chelsea went on to lift another pre-season trophy on the pitch after the game, Nizaar Kinsella pointed out that Chalobah was present for the celebrations.

He said: “Chalobah taking part in the trophy lift. I doubt any big concerns about his fitness.”

The fact that the England international did not require any serious treatment at the conclusion of the game suggests the problem is not too bad, and he could be in contention to play against his former side next weekend.

Chalobah’s Chelsea future not secure

After a hectic 12 months at Stamford Bridge for Chalobah that very nearly ended up with his departure, he proved himself to be very useful for Maresca last season.

However, speculation over his future refuses to go away, even with the injury suffered by Colwill.

Chelsea like the idea of selling Chalobah, due to the pure profit they would be able to put on the books for parting ways with an academy graduate.

With no real talk of a new centre-back coming in this summer, the club should not look to sell under any circumstances, with him set for a big season in West London.
