Todd Bowles Names ‘Game-Breaker’ For Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have one of the most stacked wide receiver corps in the entire league.

Baker Mayfield has a plethora of weapons at his disposal, from Chris Godwin and Mike Evans to Jalen McMillan and rookie star WR Emeka Egbuka.

However, they also have a stout running game.

While Bucky Irving and Rachaad White will deal with the bulk of the carries, it now seems like Sean Tucker may have played his way into the rotation as well.

At least, that’s how head coach Todd Bowles feels.

Following Saturday’s preseason opener vs. the Tennessee Titans, coach Bowles gushed about his third-string running back (via Greg Auman):

“He’s a game-breaker for us,” Bowles said of Sean Tucker. “We’ve got to get him the ball more.”

"He's a game-breaker for us," Bowles said of Sean Tucker, who had a strong night Saturday with 50 yards on 13 carries. "We've got to get him the ball more."

Tucker rose to the occasion when White left the game with a groin injury.

He made the most of his touches by turning 13 carries into 50 rushing yards.

Irving has also reportedly turned some heads in the offseason, bulking up but also looking swifter.

Then again, Bowles clearly wants to ride a hot-hand approach and keep opposing defenses guessing by throwing them different looks out there.

Tucker wasn’t much of a factor on offense last season.

He had just 50 carries for 308 rushing yards, but both of those numbers should go up this year.

Of course, the Buccaneers will most likely continue to be a pass-heavy team, and taking a different approach would be a disservice, considering their myriad of weapons.

Even so, a well-established running game will always be a quarterback’s best friend, and this team won’t be the exception to that rule.
