**We're not above partaking in a spot of schadenfreude here at _NUFC Feed_, but we are very aware how hard this is likely to come back to bite us. But here we go anyway.**
Crystal Palace have scooped the season's first trophy by beating Liverpool in the Community Shield at Wembley. That's another defeat at the National Stadium this year for Liverpool after Newcastle United beat the Reds 2-1 there in the Carabao Cup in March.
After all the torment at Newcastle United this summer, and Liverpool's direct involvement in so much of it, it's just nice to see something not go their way.
However, it was Newcastle United target Hugo Ekitike who got the Reds off the mark after just four minutes, which has us all thinking - maybe they don't need Alexander Isak after all.

Hugo Ekitike is off the mark for Liverpool
Crystal Palace took Liverpool to a penalty shootout at Wembley

A Jean-Philippe Mateta penalty saw Palace level things before another new signing for Liverpool put them back in the lead, with Jeremie Frimpong getting on the scoresheet before Ismaila Sarr tied it up again.
With the game finishing in a stalemate, it went to penalties, where Crystal Palace triumphed. Lovely stuff.
What wasn't lovely, though, was a pocket of Eagles fans disrupting the minute's silence for Diogo Jota. The Liverpool striker was tragically killed, along with his brother, in a car crash over the summer, and some Palace fans took it upon themselves to chant "Eagles" during the silence, causing the tributes to be cut short.
Let's show some respect at St James' Park ... and then absolutely show none
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Liverpool will be the first visitors to St James' Park next season, and plans have been made to pay tribute to Diogo Jota by Newcastle fans, and we sincerely hope this is still the case.
We'll have the rest of the game to take out our frustrations with Liverpool, but Diogo Jota was not part of any of what's gone on this summer, and respect should be paid. Some things are bigger than football.
After that, though, get stuck right in! I'm sure there's plenty that will be said.
