One player has spent a staggering amount of money on NBA 2K25 microtransactions, and he didn't even secure a complete set of the best cards available in the game.
People can get a lot accomplished in five months, but one NBA 2K25 player has proved you can also spend a small fortune on microtransactions in that same time. In less than half a year, a YouTuber dropped $32,000 on optional transactions.
In a post on Twitter (found by Insider Gaming), a user posted a clip of the YouTuber 2KOG's video, going through his extensive purchase history on the marketplace for NBA 2K25. In the video titled "How Much I Spent On NBA 2K25 Myteam In One Year!" 2KOG breaks down how he spent $32,000 by opening MyTeam booster packs.
In the comments on the Twitter post, other fans of NBA 2K25 can't believe just how steep a price 2KOG paid for packs. One fan comments, "Microtransactions are crazy," and everyone else in the replies seems to agree with that sentiment. Aside from the huge sum, 2KOG also revealed he didn't get many of the cards, namely nearly half of them, for his spending.
2KOG Regrets Spending $32,000 On NBA 2K25
The thumbnail for the YouTube video explains it all, 2KOG regrets his purchases. He explains that the transactions started on March 31, 2025, and ended on August 5, 2025. That's the day 2KOG uploaded his video ratting himself out for the huge amount spent.
"I'll go into this with saying it is never worth it to spend this much money on any video game. Not unless you're one of these top content creators, and I'm not," says 2KOG. "Like I said, I just started this year. This is my first year, and I made a fraction back of what I spent. So, it doesn't balance out at all." 2KOG seems to want others to heed his warning and not do the same thing he did with pack purchasing.
As 2KOG goes through his team, it's noticeable that his roster is missing nearly half of the highly sought card list. 2KOG explains that with the amount that he spent, he should have everything available in the game, but "it's not even close."
While 2KOG's warning remains on YouTube for everyone to see, this is just one instance of a fledgling content creator shelling out big for gacha-styled microtransactions. Earlier this year, a viral report surfaced that other YouTubers picked up on detailing how one Genshin Impact fan ruined his marriage by spending emergency funds on microtransactions.
