Chelsea fans have a lot to say about Jamie Gittens after first start at Stamford Bridge vs AC Milan

The feel-good factor surrounding Chelsea continued a week before the new Premier League season gets underway with a dominant win over AC Milan.

Enzo Maresca named a side which could well begin the new campaign against Crystal Palace, and Jamie Gittens was handed his first start for his new club in the 4-1 win.

The former Borussia Dortmund man started on the left wing after impressing off the bench against Bayer Leverkusen on Friday night.

Cole Palmer offered plenty of advice to Gittens throughout the game, as he looked to get accustomed to the new players and system that will greet him in the 2025/26 season.

Despite not scoring, the Englishman looked extremely dangerous out wide, coming close on a number of occasions.

Chelsea fans very impressed by Jamie Gittens vs AC Milan

Chelsea fans had been excited to see Gittens in action, and were not disappointed by his first start. They took to social media to praise the youngster for his performance.

One user said: “Jamie Bynoe-Gittens will be a superstar. At full speed, only Mbappé is better with the step over move deception.”

Another added: “Gittens doesn’t even look like he’s running fast because the ball is glued to his feet but then he just takes that little acceleration and gets in front of you. Much harder because he is so in control of the ball.”

A third claimed: “It’s mind-blowing that we bought Gittens for the same price we sold Madueke for and we’ve got a player ten times better. If arsenal weren’t such an unattractive club you would argue why they didn’t try for Gittens if they were willing to shell out that amount.”

Another stated: “Gittens is unstoppable in 1v1.”

Finally, one user said: “Gittens is an insane dribbler.”

Gittens set to face more competition at Chelsea

The two pre-season friendlies would suggest that Gittens is already comfortably ahead of George in the pecking order, whilst Estevao Willian and Pedro Neto look set to do battle on the opposite wing.

However, it remains to be seen if Chelsea do more business before the transfer window closes, which could see the Englishman facing more competition for his role.

Alejandro Garnacho has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, whilst fellow transfer target Xavi Simons also has experience on the left wing.

Gittens will be hoping for a start at Stamford Bridge in seven days’ time to prove that he should be the first choice in that position to begin the campaign.
