Matt LaFleur Provides Injury Update On Key Packers WR

When it rains, it pours for the Green Bay Packers.

The injury bug has stung them again, this time with another wide receiver.

Even so, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that head coach Matt LaFleur was still optimistic about having Jayden Reed on the field for Week 1.

Packers HC Matt LaFleur said he is hopeful that WR Jayden Reed will be ready for Week 1. Reed is dealing with a sprained foot that one source described as leaving him “day to day.”

Reed hasn’t practiced since Wednesday and was spotted in a walking boot on his left foot during the team’s preseason opener at Lambeau Field.

The Packers didn’t have four of their top six wide receivers in the loss to the New York Jets.

Christian Watson continues to be on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list with an ACL injury, and he will be out for a while.

Dontayvion Wicks has been dealing with a calf injury and has missed some time in training camp, and rookie WR Savion Williams was also held out because of a shoulder injury.

The Packers will also be without All-Pro S Xavier McKinney (calf) and CB Nate Hobbs (knee) for the remainder of the preseason.

As for Reed, this has been a frustrating camp for him.

He opened training camp on the non-football injury list due to a toe injury.

The Packers’ starting offense was on the field for a couple of drives and looked rusty and out of sync, up to the point where they were called for seven holding penalties.

LaFleur said he wouldn’t play them more for the remainder of the preseason, so this team might get off to a slow start on offense this season.
