Manchester United have been warned against the potential mistake of letting Rasmus Hojlund go, amidst speculation that the Denmark striker is free to leave Old Trafford following the signing of Benjamin Sesko.
The Red Devils had a torrid time finding the back of the net last season and have splashed the cash in the summer transfer window to beef up their attack, securing deals for Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Sesko, who finalised his £73.7million move from RB Leipzig over the weekend.
Sesko, 22, is tipped to lead United's frontline after both Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee struggled to consistently hit the target last term.
Hojlund has since been given the green light to seek a new club where he can secure regular playtime in the upcoming season, with AC Milan showing interest.
However, Mikael Silvestre, who played for United from 1999 to 2008, insists that his old club should hold onto Hojlund at all costs, even as rumours swirl that Milan would match United's £40m asking price for the forward with a £6m loan fee plus an option to buy outright next summer.

Silvestre said to Hajper, via The Metro: "Marcus Rashford has gone and there are not a lot of strikers around, Joshua Zirkzee is a different type of striker that doesn’t make those runs in behind the defence.
"He is another type of player for certain games, certain opposition. But no, you need competition, need quality, so I wouldn’t rush into sending Rasmus Hojlund out on loan if Sesko signs. Absolutely not."
Hojlund found the back of the net 10 times in all competitions last season for United, with only four goals in the Premier League. Meanwhile, Sesko was on fire for Leipzig, bagging 21 goals and sparking rumours of a Premier League transfer since the close of last season.

The Gunners have had their eye on the Slovenian star for a while but opted to pursue a deal for Viktor Gyokeres instead. This left the door wide open for United, and Silvestre believes Sesko is just the right fit for Ruben Amorim's favoured 3-4-3 formation.
He added: "Benjamin Sesko is an upcoming talent and he’s got certain qualities that could fit into Ruben Amorim’s style of play.

"He’s got presence, height, he’s good with his back against the defenders. He’s got the athleticism to respond to the physicality of the Premier League. He’s ticking a lot of boxes for sure."
