The Eagles won the Community Shield for the first time in our illustrious history, after Dean Henderson’s heroics and Justin Devenny’s match-winning spot kick saw us triumph 3-2 in a penalty shootout.
This followed a thrilling 2-2 draw beforehand after goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta and Ismaïla Sarr, as Palace once again matched the Premier League Champions.
As we start to digest another golden day for Palace under the Arch, here are all the key numbers from Wembley.
Repeating his trick from the FA Cup success, Oliver Glasner became the first Austrian manager to lift the Community Shield.
### **77**
Days separating our last fixture against Liverpool – the final match of 2024/25 – and Sunday’s Wembley showpiece.
### **Four**
The number of times Ismaïla Sarr has hit the net at Wembley in 2025.
Sarr brought Palace back to 2-2 with a cool finish before also scoring his penalty in the resulting shootout. This followed on from his two goals in the FA Cup semi-final win back in April.

Days separating Palace’s **TWO** Wembley wins! Not a bad summer…
### **Six**
Palace players played every minute of both the FA Cup Final and the Community Shield win.
Dean Henderson, Maxence Lacroix, Chris Richards, Daniel Muñoz, Ismaïla Sarr and Ebere Eze all completed that particular feat.
### **4**
Years since the last time a first-time FA Cup winner went on to triumph in the Community Shield.
Leicester City achieved the feat with a win over Manchester City – their winning goal coincidentally a late penalty.

..time lucky? Prior to the Liverpool triumph, Palace had lost six penalty shootouts on the spin. The last win before Wembley came nearly exactly 22 years ago to the day, back in 2003.
The Eagles defeated Torquay United 3-1 on spot kicks, following a 1-1 draw in the first round of the League Cup. Andy Johnson, Shaun Derry and Dougie Freedman all scored that night.
### **50**
It’s 50 years – half a century – since the last time a debutant won the Community Shield, when Derby County defeated West Ham in their first appearance.
### **6**
Competitive games played on August, 10th in Crystal Palace history, with the Community Shield win the latest.
Palace are unbeaten across all six games, with three wins!
### **Eight… becoming nine?**
Since 1992, only eight of the 33 winners of the Shield have gone on to win the title.
Surely, it’s time to make that nine in 2025/26?
