Since winning their second-ever Premier League title in what was Arne Slot’s first season in English football, Liverpool have wasted little time in showing that the trophy is one that they intend on defending. At the time of writing, the Reds have made four signings that will make an immediate impact for the club.
Wing-back Jeremie Frimpong was signed from Bayer Leverkusen to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold, not long before fellow Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz followed him to Anfield in a deal that could become a British record transfer fee.
Exciting left-back Milos Kerkez has signed from Bournemouth and Liverpool have also recruited Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt. All additions, even the two defenders, are attack-minded and will, in theory, contribute greatly to Slot’s system as he prepares for a busy campaign.
Liverpool have been pursuing a deal for Alexander Isak, who has requested to leave Newcastle United this summer. With the Magpies, the Swede has established himself as one of the best strikers in the world and Isak would be a significant upgrade on Darwin Nunez, who recently moved to Saudi Arabia.
Alongside Liverpool’s already present attackers, particularly Mohamed Salah, Isak would thrive on Merseyside, but Liverpool’s forward threat could be given even further potency should they also pursue a deal for this world-class winger.
Liverpool Should Sign Barcola Alongside Isak

Recent reports have indicated that Liverpool will explore a deal for Bradley Barcola should they fail in their attempts to sign Isak. A Paris Saint-Germain player since 2023, the French international has been dubbed "one of the best players in the world" by Fabrizio Romano.
Barcola was a key part of the PSG team that, last season, won their first-ever Champions League as part of a European treble, but the presence of players such as Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia could potentially limit Barcola’s chances of consistent first team football in Paris going forward.
Liverpool, through smart player sales and years of less spending–compared to this summer–have a sizable budget to spend, which could be expanded further if more players depart Anfield. As such, they should look to sign Barcola alongside Isak, rather than instead of the striker.
Barcola would offer the Reds a dynamism out wide that they currently lack and would nicely compliment the likes of Salah and Cody Gakpo, just as it would benefit Isak. Whether Liverpool further pursue and agree a deal for Barcola remains to be seen, but he would be a sensational addition for the defending Premier League champions.
