Chelsea are willing to sell Renato Veiga this summer, despite the season-ending ACL injury to Levi Colwill. Aged 22 and outstanding for Juventus on loan last season, he is eager to make a new beginning. Interested parties will step up talks next week after his proposed Atletico Madrid switch collapsed at the last moment.
Veiga exit plans unchanged after Colwill blow
When Levi Colwill’s injury was confirmed, some expected Veiga to be kept as cover, given his versatility across defence and midfield. However, Chelsea’s stance remains firm—he is available for transfer if the right offer arrives. Although Chelsea rate him at around €35m to €40m, Fabrizio Romano claims that the player is anxious to leave for a project in which he will get more consistent first-team playing time.
The fact Renato Veiga can play even as a centre-back, left-back and defensive midfielder adds to his appeal. However, Chelsea are happy to sell, as they commit valuable resources to rebuilding the squad and face defensive depth challenges from injuries and suspensions in recent months.

Serie A clubs and Saudi suitors now in the mix
With Atletico Madrid now out of the race, several clubs have stepped forward. Bayern Munich had been tracking the situation but have walked away, deciding to seek alternative targets. The Saudi-based suitors would view Veiga as an affordable yet high-end defensive signing, with current interest coming from Serie A sides Lazio and Fiorentina.
There has been interest from elsewhere in the Bundesliga but nothing concrete as of yet. Chelsea will consider offers late in the window, strongly expecting a club to meet their asking price.
For Renato Veiga, the coming days could define his critical next move. For Chelsea, this marks another calculated call in one of the most decisive summers in recent club history.
