Dolphins rookie lineman gets heavy workload

Jonah Savaiinaea, the Dolphins’ 2025 second-round pick, played every first-half snap at left guard.

The Dolphins were clearly giving the team’s youngest starting offensive linemen a healthy workload with the goal of getting him prepared for the regular season, when he will be required to play 50-plus snaps a game

.The Dolphins took a similar approach with Patrick Paul last season, having him play well into the first half of every preseason game. Paul played the entire first quarter at left tackle on Sunday and was seemingly working on his chemistry with Savaiinaea

When Paul left the game Miami replaced him with Germain Ifedi, the recently signed veteran offensive tackle, and then Kion Smith, who is being cross-trained to play tackle and guard, took over.
