Report: Striker who has held talks with Newcastle now wants to join Manchester United

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has long been of interest to Newcastle United, but it now appears as if he has his eyes on Manchester United.

Newcastle have held talks with Calvert-Lewin, who remains without a club after leaving Everton upon the expiration of his contract earlier this summer.

For now, Newcastle appear to be focusing on other targets.

Yoane Wissa is reportedly closing in on a move, while Geordie Boot Boys understands that Nicolas Jackson, Ollie Watkins and Samu Aghehowa are on Newcastle’s radar.

Still, as long as Calvert-Lewin remains on the market, the idea that Newcastle could actually move for him will remain.

However, the England international appears to be pushing for a move to Old Trafford.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin wants to sign for Manchester United

According to The Sun, the striker has sacked his agents and will conduct his own transfer talks from now on.

It’s said that Calvert-Lewin is keen to join Manchester United, who recently signed Newcastle target Benjamin Sesko.

Still, it’s also claimed that the only way in which a move to Ruben Amorim’s side is possible is if either one of Rasmus Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee leave the club.

Hojlund has been strongly linked with AC Milan in recent days.

Aston Villa have also been linked with Calvert-Lewin, who scored 71 goals while registering 22 assists in 273 appearances while at Everton.

Newcastle almost signed Calvert-Lewin in 2024 and have been consistently linked with a move while under Eddie Howe’s stewardship.

Earlier this week, Craig Hope confirmed that the Newcastle United manager was a long-term admirer of the 11-cap Three Lions forward when writing in The Daily Mail.

Calvert-Lewin isn’t thought to be high on Newcastle’s priority list right now but could be later this summer if other deals fail to come off.

It remains to be seen if Calvert-Lewin can land a new club before then.
