Dortmund 1-2 Juventus

Goals: 0-1 Cambiaso (16'), 0-2 Cambiaso (53'), 1-2 Beier (89')

Hummels was named in the starting line-up for his swansong and rolled back the years with a couple of his trademark outside-of-the-boot passes to the wings in the early stages, much to the delight of the home crowd.

However, Juventus poured cold water on the occasion by opening the scoring through Andrea Cambiaso, taking the lead with their first attack of the game.

Hummels was substituted off after that goal and was given a standing ovation from the Dortmund faithful in recognition of his service to the club over the years.

Cambiaso struck again for the Italian side in the second half, rounding off a swift counter-attack before both sides made wholesale changes. One of which was Maximilian Beier, who grabbed a consolation goal late on for BVB.

It wasn’t enough, however, as Dortmund ultimately tasted their first defeat of pre-season. The team's first competitive fixture of 2025/26 is a DFB Cup clash with Rot-Weiss Essen on 18 August, before they travel to St. Pauli for their Bundesliga opener the following Saturday.

#### Full-time: Dortmund 1-2 JuventusIt's not the farewell result that Hummels would've wanted on his final appearance in a Dortmund shirt as the hosts are defeated by Juventus. The Italian side doubled their lead not long after the restart, thanks to Cambiaso's second of the afternoon. Both teams made lots of changes over the course of the second 45 and it was substitute Beier who clawed one back late on for BVB, but his late finish couldn't quite inspire a complete comeback.

Dortmund have been noticeably lifted by Beier's goal, but are still yet to find the all-important equaliser.

The Dortmund fans have something to cheer late on here. Couto feeds it to Brandt, who crosses towards Beier. Inside the box, the No.14 manages to turn his marker before smashing the ball into the roof of the net from close range with a great finish.Maximilian Beier#### Beier's hard work almost rewarded

The German forward is still pressing high in the latter stages of this match. His intensity was nearly rewarded as goalkeeper Pinsoglio was sold short with a back-pass, but the Italian managed to recover well.#### Substitution#### Juventus counter

The Italian side launch a quick counter-attack, led by Djalò. The forward plays a one-two before going it alone from the edge of the box, however, his shot isn't powerful enough to trouble Kobel, who gathers comfortably.#### Miscued

Nmecha pings a great switch of play out to Couto, who drives his side up the pitch. The full-back tries to return the favour, attempting to find the German in the box, but his pass is too inaccurate.#### Substitution

#### A spanner in the worksCambiaso's so-far unanswered double has so far prevented Hummels from having the fairytale goodbye he would've been hoping for.

Svensson takes a free-kick short down the left to Beier. The German whips a ball to the far post, where Guirassy meets it with his head, however, the goalkeeper punches it behind for a corner. Svensson takes it again, finding Guirassy, but the Guinean's header is off target.#### Wholesale Juventus changes

It's the visitors' turn to go the bench, as they make 10 substitutions: Djalò, Kostić, Gatti, McKennie, Koopmeiners, Miretti, Vlahović, Douglas Luiz, Adzic and Pinsoglio. The only player not to have been replaced is Bremer.#### BVB knocking on the door

Couto pulls a pass back into the path of Nmecha inside Juventus' box. The No.8 hits it, but his effort is scuffed. However, it drops to Guirassy who tries to make space for a shot, but the Juventus defence just close down the angle in time, allowing Di Gregorio to collect.#### Quadruple change

Niko Kovač goes to the bench as he tries to inject some fresh impetus into his side.#### Substitution#### Substitution#### Substitution#### Substitution#### Sustained pressure

Dortmund are zipping the ball around in front of the Juventus box, but the Italian side have dug in and are making it very difficult for Dortmund to play through them, forcing them wide. BVB are reluctant to put crosses in and are keeping the ball nicely.#### Cambiaso at the double!

Juventus execute a fantastic counter-attack to double their lead. João Mário storms forward from deep before laying it off to David. The Canadian forward moves it onto Yıldız, who releases Cambiaso down the left with a through ball. The Italian pounces on it before firing a tidy finish into the far right corner.#### Well worked

Conceição twists and turns down the right flank, beating Bensebaini before getting to the byline. Ultimately, Dortmund do well to recover, getting back before clearing the Portuguese's attempted cross.#### Locatelli down

There's a stoppage as the Italian defender takes his time getting to his feet following a challenge from Bellingham.#### Back underway!

#### Half-time: Dortmund 0-1 JuventusIt's mixed emotions for BVB at half time. The hosts started very brightly, with Groß and Adeyemi particularly shining in the early stages, however it was Juventus who took the lead, scoring against the run of play after 16 minutes courtesy of Cambiaso. Afterwards, Hummels said goodbye to the Westfalenstadion for the last time, replaced by Süle. Juventus grew as the half went on, putting Dortmund under more pressure, though BVB continued to impress on the ball, although without finding a response. Nevertheless, Süle's injury just before the break will be a worrying sign for coach Niko Kovač.

The German is helped to his feet by Dortmund's medical staff before being helped off the pitch. The defender walks straight down the tunnel.#### Süle down

It's a worrying sight for Dortmund fans as Süle goes down and stays down after an incident off the ball, seemingly holding his calf. There's a stoppage whilst he receives treatment.#### Scuffed

Yıldız beats Ryerson down the left flank and fires a driven cross in towards Thuram inside the 18-yard box. However, the Frenchman is leaning back and gets right under the ball, sending it flying well over the bar.

The Italian side are developing more confidence in the advanced areas. Thuram sprays it out wide to Conceição, who plays a left-footed cross in towards Yıldız. The Turkish international's header is straight at Kobel.#### BVB continuing to impress

The hosts remain in control and are knocking the ball around very confidently on the edge of the Juventus box. However, they're still yet to find a response to Cambiaso's opener. Most recently, Groß fires a low cross in from the right following a spell of prolonged possession, but it's too close to Di Gregorio.#### Yellow card

#### Hummels says his goodbyesThe legendary centre-back was visibly emotional as he thanked his former teammates and the crowd at Signal Iduna Park.

© Lars Baron#### No takers

Ryerson plays a lovely defence-splitting pass to find a great run from Bellingham. The English midfielder gets to the byline, from where he digs out a reverse pass, but there's no BVB player running in at the far post; Guirassy hadn't anticipated the ball.#### Conceição bends one

The Portuguese winger cuts in off the left flank and curls a good effort towards the far post, but it's wide of the mark.#### Groß goes close

Immediately after coming on, Süle drives his side up the pitch as BVB look to respond to the deficit. He lays it off to Groß to his left, whose shot takes a deflection off Guirassy which wrong-foots Di Gregorio, but ultimately travels just wide.#### Hummels bids farewell

It's an emotional scene at the Signal Iduna Park as Mats Hummels waves farewell to the Dortmund fans after making way for Niklas Süle. The stadium is on its feet and all the Dortmund players come off the bench to congratulate the legend.#### Substitution#### Cambiaso opens the scoring

After Dortmund fail to properly clear a David cross, the rebound falls to Kalulu on the right flank, who fizzes the ball into Cambiaso, the Italian finishing past Kobel from inside nine yards.#### Defence into attack

Hummels initiates a lovely counter-attack for the hosts, spraying the ball out wide to Adeyemi. Svensson overlaps before floating a cross into Guirassy. The initial header forces the forward wide, but he recovers it well, before Juventus have a second opportunity to clear.#### Another card

This time, it's Conceição who sees yellow after kicking the ball away in frustration, following the referee's awarding of a foul for Dortmund.#### Yellow card#### Overhit

Bensebaini looks to release Adeyemi with a through ball down the left flank, but he overcooks it and the ball goes behind for a goal-kick.#### Tenacious start

BVB are pressing very high up the pitch in the opening phases here. Most recently, Groß put in two good crosses, the second of which results in the first corner of the game. Ryerson takes it, whipping it in towards the head of Hummels, but Di Gregorio manages to punch it clear.#### Glanced wide

Another Ryerson free-kick - this time as a result of a foul on Anton - is fired into the Juventus box. Guirassy rises highest, flicking a header goalwards, but the ball flies narrowly wide of the left post.#### Early booking

João Mário picks up the first yellow card of the game for a challenge on Adeyemi, after the winger beat him down the left flank. The subsequent free-kick taken by Ryerson comes to nothing, however.#### Yellow card#### Statement of intent?

A long ball finds Adeyemi high up the pitch. The German brings it down excellently under pressure, before beating another defender until he is halted by Kalulu. Nevertheless, the winger is looking sharp.#### And we're off!
