Trevoh Chalobah gives update on fitness after limping off during Chelsea's friendly win vs AC Milan

After what looked a perfect day for Chelsea on paper against AC Milan, fans were left concerned after Trevoh Chalobah was forced off due to injury in the second half.

The Blues were already in a commanding position against 10 men, and went on to win the game 4-1 after Liam Delap found the net twice to round off the afternoon in style.

There was a real worry when Chalobah was forced off though, given the Blues have already been struck by an injury to Levi Colwill that is set to keep him out for the majority of the season.

Chalobah was present for the trophy lift, potentially hinting towards the fact that his problem was not too serious, and he walked off the pitch unassisted before being replaced by Josh Acheampong.

Enzo Maresca didn’t sound too concerned either, and now the defender himself has given an update on his own fitness with the Premier League less than a week away.

He took to Twitter to confirm that he was doing okay, hinting that the issue was not set to keep him out for a prolonged period of time.

He said: “All good everyone, thanks for the messages.”

After starting both friendlies, it can be expected that Chalobah is in the manager’s plans to start the first game of the campaign against former club Crystal Palace.

Whether Wesley Fofana will be fit to face Palace

A notable absentee from the Chelsea squad for both friendlies was Wesley Fofana, who also missed the Club World Cup due to ongoing injury problems.

The Frenchman has proven to be in Maresca’s preferred central defensive duo, however he has just not been reliable enough to be a regular option since he made the move from Leicester City.

However, Maresca said Fofana could be fit to face Palace, however throwing him straight into the starting side would be seen as a risky move.

The Blues have managed the fitness of Reece James extremely well, and should look to do the same to try and replicate his successes with Fofana.
