Kevin Durant mocks OKC raising a banner in front of him on opening night

Kevin Durant took a jab at his former team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, on social media after being asked how it would feel to face them in the 2025–26 season opener, when they will raise their championship banner.

The Oklahoma City Thunder will begin the 2025–26 season with a very special occasion: a ring ceremony and the raising of the banner for their 2025 NBA championship win.

This will be an even more intriguing game for fans, also because they will face the former face of the franchise, Kevin Durant, and the Houston Rockets in the season opener.

Although KD doesn’t have any hard feelings toward the Thunder, he took a shot at them on social media when asked about where his mindset would be during the season opener.

"Where will your mental be opening night when you watch the team that gave you everything raise a banner after you left them high and dry?" a fan asked on X.

"Finally. It’s been 10 years, ’bout time they win one lmaooo," KD replied.

Kevin Durant spent nine years playing for the Thunder to begin his Hall of Fame career, starting when the Thunder relocated from Seattle to Oklahoma City for the 2008–09 season.

During his tenure with the Thunder, Durant once led the team to the NBA Finals in 2012, won the NBA MVP in 2014, and was named an All-Star seven times.
