Blackburn Rovers starlet offered new deal amid Arsenal interest

Blackburn Rovers have offered starlet Igor Tyjon a new deal in their latest bid to keep him at Ewood Park as interest from Arsenal persists, according to Alan Nixon via his Patreon.

Blackburn Rovers have long been celebrated for nurturing young talent, with their academy producing a steady stream of standout players over the years. Many have gone on to shine for the first team before taking their careers to greater heights elsewhere, having first made their mark in Lancashire.

One of the newest prospects to emerge is England youth international Igor Tyjon, who has shown remarkable progress since arriving from Rochdale two years ago at the age of 15. However, Rovers have been faced with interest from Arsenal over the last few months, and they are fighting to keep the starlet.

Arsenal have made offers to Tyjon several times, with offers of over £1m being rejected by Blackburn Rovers. However, reporter Alan Nixon has revealed a new development via his Patreon.

Nixon has stated that Tyjon has been offered a new deal by Blackburn Rovers to become a professional player at Ewood Park. Tyjon is still currently on his scholarship deal with Rovers, but that deal will run out next summer.

Arsenal could agree terms with Tyjon now, but would need to pay a compensation fee. Blackburn Rovers still hold hope that Tyjon will stay under the promise of first-team football.

How is Igor Tyjon viewed by the Blackburn Rovers boss

Tyjon was seen as a real coup when Blackburn Rovers prised him away from Rochdale as a promising youngster two years ago, and his standout performances in the academy since have only heightened the excitement surrounding his potential.

An eight-time England U17 international, Tyjon has already netted six goals in 10 Premier League 2 appearances, proving his quality well beyond his age group. Rovers boss Valérien Ismaël and his staff clearly share that view, having worked hard to convince him that Ewood Park is the ideal place to continue his development.

Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph last month, Ismaël revealed he sees Tyjon as a first-team player, with a clear pathway towards a senior breakthrough in the 2025/26 campaign. Such an opportunity would be far harder to come by at Arsenal, where the teenager would almost certainly remain in youth football.

Blackburn Rovers transfers could open up space for Tyjon

One of Rovers’ current forward, Makhtar Gueye, is currently attracting interest from abroad. If he does depart, then more gametime could be on the horizon for Tyjon.

Valerian Ismael wants more from his attack after the opening day defeat to West Brom. Tyjon could be the key to that for Blackburn Rovers.
