Five players Leeds could sign this week, including Liverpool star and £43m wantaway attacker - opinion

Another Monday, a new week. But poignantly for Leeds United, it is the last full week before Daniel Farke’s side begin their Premier League campaign and host Everton next Monday.

Leeds have completed their pre-season programme, finishing it with a 1-1 draw against AC Milan. Anton Stach got his first goal in Leeds colours with a gorgeous curling effort into the bottom corner to equalise.

Leeds remain unbeaten across their five games, beating German sides SC Verl and Paderborn. They drew with Man United, Villarreal and now Milan and it should give Farke confidence that they can compete.

Now, the big time. Everton come to Elland Road in a week’s time, but Farke will be hoping Leeds can make a signing beforehand. Beren Cross says Leeds want a full-back, a winger, a no.10, and a striker.

The five players Leeds could sign this week before Everton clash

Bilal El Khannouss (Leicester)

Hardly a surprise, but El Khannouss continues to be linked with Leeds. Graham Smyth says El Khannouss is very interested in a move to Elland Road this summer, but he played a full match for Leicester on Sunday.

The Morocco star produced both assists from set-pieces as Leicester came from behind to beat Sheffield Wednesday on Sunday. El Khannouss has a £24.5m release clause that expires on Friday, August 15.

Rodrigo Muniz (Fulham)

Another one that hardly comes as a surprise, but remains very much an ongoing topic. Muniz is still being linked with Leeds and Smyth claims Leeds still believe they have every chance of landing the Fulham ace.

Leeds have been linked with other strikers, seeing a move for Andrea Pinamonti rejected despite agreeing a fee with Sassuolo. It will be interesting to see if Leeds finally improve their initial £32m offer for Muniz.

Facundo Buonanotte (Brighton)

One new player to be linked with Leeds in the last couple of days is Brighton’s Facundo Buonanotte. A teammate of El Khannouss in 2024-25 after a loan at Leicester, Brighton are willing to loan him out again.

Dortmund have made a move, but Brighton have turned it down. The Seagulls would rather Buonanotte goes on loan to a Premier League club. Leeds are eyeing a 10 and have been linked with the Brighton ace.

Ben Doak (Liverpool)

A surprise target has emerged in the form of £20m-rated Ben Doak at Liverpool. The Scotland winger impressed while on loan at Middlesbrough and has scored for Arne Slot’s side during pre-season.

Doak was an unused sub on Sunday as Liverpool faced Crystal Palace in the Community Shield, losing on penalties to Oliver Glasner’s side. Possibly, a hint to Leeds that Doak is very much in Slot’s Liverpool plans.

Nico Gonzalez (Juventus)

According to Smyth, Leeds have shown interest in Juventus’ Argentina international Gonzalez. Of all the wingers that have been linked with Leeds since missing out on Igor Paixao, Gonzalez is certainly the best.

An ambitious one given Gonzalez only joined Juventus last summer on loan with an obligation worth a huge £43m. But, Gonzalez has informed Juventus he would like to leave the Old Lady this summer.
