Two days ago, we covered claims from Italy that AC Milan have a preliminary agreement with Manchester United to sign Rasmus Højlund on loan with an option to buy.
The Denmark international isn’t keen on exit even though his agent and the Red Devils are in favour of a move.
Milan are making advances and are close to reaching a full agreement with Manchester United.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who report the Serie A side have an agreement on the type of deal and the loan fee of €6m. They want a €30m buying option, while Manchester United are asking for €40m, and this needs to be sorted out between the two clubs.
The 22-year-old’s playing time will be restricted after Benjamin Šeško’s arrival. Ruben Amorim’s side have been ‘sending him unequivocal messages’ to Højlund that he needs to find a solution.
According to Calciomercato, the frontman will have a direct meeting Manchester United on Tuesday, and this will be crucial to understand if Milan can seal his signing quickly.
The Rossoneri have returned to Italy after a friendly against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Monday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport reports Milan sporting director Igli Tare stayed back in England to convince Højlund. It’s possible for him to have direct talks with the Dane in the next few hours.
The newspaper states: ‘Højlund is reluctant to leave Manchester primarily for reasons of pride: he has nothing against Milan, and in fact appreciates the Rossoneri’s attention.’
It’s not given that he won’t change his mind and if Manchester United keep on insisting, the frontman will consider leaving on a permanent transfer.
Tare aims to close this operation before the end of this week. Gazzetta report he’s in the UK to find out ‘how much leeway there is to resolve the situation quickly.’ Should Højlund remain firm, Milan could quickly move on to other targets.
To sum it up, Tare staying back in the UK and tomorrow’s meeting between Højlund and Manchester United can be key for his exit.
