Journalist says he's now hearing something different about Savinho's potential move to…

Tottenham Hotspur’s reported interest in Manchester City winger Savinho has emerged like a bolt from the blue.

Considering the Brazilian played a key role for Pep Guardiola’s side during the FIFA Club World Cup and even assisted one of Tijjani Reijnders’s goals against Palermo, it seemed like he was gearing up to have a special season.

But the summer transfer window is an unpredictable wilderness and Savinho being open to joining Tottenham sums up that being the case.

Considering Savinho signed for City last summer, if he were to sign for Spurs, such a move would be one of the most surprising swoops of the ongoing window.

Man City set to ask Tottenham to pay £50 million plus to sign Savinho

Pep Guardiola believes Savinho could become “extraordinary” one day and Manchester City have shown patience with young players in recent years, giving Jeremy Doku his third season to unleash his potential being one example.

However, elite clubs like City have a ruthless streak and perhaps they are of the opinion that the 21-year-old is surplus to requirements already.

Journalist David Ornstein has claimed that Manchester City and Tottenham are discussing a fee of €50 million (£43 million) as they hold talks over Savinho’s potential exit, even though the Sky Blues are unwilling to let go of him.

However, in his report for the Daily Mail, Jack Gaughan reported that the Sky Blues would demand a fee well in excess of £50 million from Thomas Frank’s side as they intend to sign Savinho, who Manchester City brought in for £21 million.

Pep Guardiola has already hinted whether he could sell Savinho

With James Maddison suffering an ACL injury and Dejan Kulusevski injuring his patella at the end of last season, Tottenham are short of bodies in attack.

As a result, Spurs are in desperate need of fresh blood.

When Manchester City were on the verge of selling Ferran Torres to Barcelona, Pep Guardiola revealed that he lets players leave who wish to explore new opportunities and as a result, he could very well open the door to Savinho’s potential move to Tottenham.

Guardiola said via Sky Sports in 2021: “We are not a club like other clubs when players want to leave and the owner says stay. If they want to leave because they feel they will be happier in another place, they have to go. I am happy for him.”
