Darwin Nunez has penned a farewell message to Liverpool after finalising his transfer to Al-Hilal, a move which got off to a strong start with a goal in his first friendly match.
After three years at Anfield, Liverpool agreed a transfer worth an initial £46 million with the Saudi side, with further add-ons built into the agreement between the two clubs.
Nunez scored 40 goals and assisted another 22 in 143 appearances for the club, winning supporters over with his maverick nature but struggling to hold down a first-choice role.
He, however, leaves “with a full heart” and in his message upon leaving the club, Nunez insisted “Liverpool will always be part of who I am.”
“Thank you, Liverpool,” Nunez penned on social media.
“Three years on, it’s time to say goodbye. I’ll take with me countless memories that will live with me forever.
“I leave with a full heart, thanks to the love of a crowd that never let me down and always had my back – through the highs and through the lows.
“Liverpool will always be part of who I am. I’ll miss you more than words can say. To all the staff and my teammates – thank you and all the very best for the future. YNWA.”
His post was met with responses and likes from the current squad, including Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, Conor Bradley, Alisson, Alexis Mac Allister, Curtis Jones, Dominik Szoboszlai and more.

Nunez was a popular member of the dressing room but now has a new squad to integrate into at Al Hilal, and he got off to a promising start with a goal in his first game for the club.
The 26-year-old came off the bench to score the final goal in Al Hilal’s 6-0 friendly win over FC Aarau on Sunday, with a powerful finish inside the penalty box.
Nunez joined his new club’s training camp in Germany, where they have one more pre-season friendly before travelling back to Saudi Arabia.
