Trent Alexander-Arnold has responded to Darwin Nunez's emotional farewell message following his move away from Liverpool. The Uruguay international completed the £46million move to Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League.

The deal, worth an initial £46m, could reach £56m with add-ons. This marks the end of a three-year spell on Merseyside for Nunez, during which he scored 40 goals in 143 appearances.

Nunez's final outing for Liverpool came in last week’s 4-1 friendly win over Athletic Bilbao, where he scored in the opening fixture of the Anfield double-header. Taking to social media, Nunez shared in an emotional message: "Thank you, Liverpool. Three years on, it's time to say goodbye. I'll take with me countless memories that will live with me forever.

"I leave with a full heart, thanks to the love of a crowd that never let me down and always had my back - through the highs and through the lows. Liverpool will always be part of who I am.

"I'll miss you more than words can say. To all the staff and my teammates - thank you, and all the very best for the future. YNWA."

Former Reds full-back Alexander-Arnold 'liked' the post on Instagram which received more than 422,000 likes including from Virgil van Dijk, Alexis Mac Allister, Alisson Becker, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, Conor Bradley, Ryan Gravenberch and Stefan Bajcetic.

During his time at Anfield, Nunez also collected winner’s medals in the Carabao Cup and FA Community Shield, while creating several unforgettable moments.
