Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund is reportedly keen on a move to AC Milan. United are optimistic about striking a deal with Milan, who are revamping their squad under the return of manager Massimiliano Allegri. After finishing eighth last season, Milan missed out on European football.

However, it's still up in the air whether a permanent transfer could be on the cards as United have slapped a reported £30million price tag on Hojlund, while Milan are eyeing a loan spell for the 22-year-old.

Despite being only two years into his five-year contract at United, the club decided earlier this year to cash in if they managed to sign a new striker.

Benjamin Sesko was unveiled to the Old Trafford faithful ahead of Saturday's pre-season friendly against Fiorentina, following his £73.62m switch from RB Leipzig.

Hojlund found himself benched during the 1-1 stalemate - the first time he didn't feature in any of United's five pre-season games.

Ruben Amorim opted to start Mason Mount as the main man upfront, after giving Matheus Cunha a run-out in that position in the 2-2 draw with Everton six days prior.

According to the Manchester Evening News, insiders close to Hojlund felt his exit was inevitable if Sesko arrived. Hojlund is miffed at United seemingly pushing him towards the exit door and just 12 days ago, he expressed his desire to stay put at the club.

However, Amorim has remained silent on whether Hojlund will remain at United. International stars are under more pressure this summer to secure regular minutes this season with the 2026 World Cup looming.

Hojlund has only managed to net one goal in his last 16 outings for Denmark and found himself on the bench during their recent qualifier against Lithuania.

United snapped up Hojlund from Atalanta in a £72m deal back in July 2023, despite initially setting a £60m budget for their new striker. Hojlund has since banged in 26 goals in 95 matches for the club.

A move to Milan would be like coming home for Hojlund, given that the city is just a stone's throw away (about 40 kilometres) from Bergamo, where Atalanta is based.
