Liverpool continue to linger as threat for player – Belief offer can ‘shake the defender’

On Sunday, TuttoSport reported Liverpool are a threat to Inter Milan’s chase of Parma youngster Giovanni Leoni.

ParmaLive reported the Reds are actually in pole position for the defender, who is currently only interested in a move to the Nerazzurri.

Now, there could be some encouragement for Liverpool.

Today’s Corriere dello Sport reports that a few weeks ago, Parma rejected an offer worth €35m from a Premier League side for Leoni. The name of the club remains unknown, but the newspaper believe it was from a ‘second-tier’ club, indicating it wasn’t from the Reds.

So far, the 18-year-old has shown an insistence on staying in Italy, but interest from AC Milan has also not materialised into an offer, as they have chosen to focus on Genoa’s Koni de Winter.

While the teenager is also open to staying at Parma for another season, an approach from Liverpool or any other Premier League club can now ‘shake the defender’.

L’Interista also note that Arne Slot’s side remain a threat to Inter’s move for Leoni and they criticise the Italian side’s ‘wait-and-see attitude’, when it comes to the talent.

As indicated in the past, these are more attempts from those around Leoni to pressure Inter to make an offer soon. The player is desperate to move to the San Siro and Liverpool’s name is being used to attract an offer from Cristian Chivu’s side.
