Everton suffer huge blow ahead of Leeds United Premier League clash

Leeds United wrapped up pre-season preparations after facing AC Milan this weekend. The club put up a very good showing against the Serie A side.

The Whites completed their pre-season preparations unbeaten even after facing the likes of Villarreal and Manchester United. While the results on the pitch gave some hope to the fans, the club still have concerns. Daniel Farke once again asked the club to bring in a few more players before his team faces Everton in the Premier League.

The Toffees are facing some injury doubts for the Leeds United game. Left back Vitaliy Mykolenko picked up a groin injury in the club’s last friendly, lasting just 12 minutes in the game. David Moyes revealed that the club are yet to receive an update on the injury.

Everton also have two other injury doubts ahead of this weekend, defender Nathan Patterson is being examined over a potential hernia problem and youngster Harrison Armstrong also suffered a thigh strain in training.

The toffees could be without three players for the Leeds clash.

David Moyes complains about transfer business

The injuries only pile on top of Everton boss David Moyes’ concerns ahead of the season opener. The toffees have made just five signings this summer after losing eight first team players. Moyes has already asked the club to get some players in before the season kicks off.

“The truth is, we are not getting them over the line at the moment, so that’s a fact. We’re not getting a lot of the deals done that we were hoping to do.” he said.

“We’re continually reassessing and moving on if things are not coming to fruition. We want to challenge ourselves to get good players if that is possible, and we’re trying to do that but we’re finding it quite difficult.”

Leeds have a sneaky chance of a win in the opener

With Everton lacking new signings and having injury problems, there could be a slight chance that Leeds have the upper hand. Seeing how well pre-season has gone, and the quality of the new additions, getting a result against David Moyes’ side could be a real possibility on Monday night. Hopefully the players make it count on the pitch.
