Report: Nicolas Jackson responds to Newcastle United interest as Alexander Isak saga remains…

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in a move for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, and a new report has shared what the 24-year-old thinks of the move.

With the future of Alexander Isak still looking uncertain, the Magpies must plan ahead if his departure does come this summer.

Reports suggest that Isak is livid with Newcastle after being told by board members that he would not be allowed to leave this summer. The 25-year-old is subject to serious interest from Liverpool, and is hopeful that a deal will come to fruition before the window closes on September 1.

Isak thinks his Newcastle career is over, so Eddie Howe is now planning on signing his replacement. His search has led the Magpies to Nicolas Jackson, who has been told he can leave Chelsea this summer after two years in London.

Jackson missed Chelsea’s friendly against Bayer Leverkusen on Friday and was nowhere to be seen during the Blues’ 4-1 win against AC Milan on Sunday evening. With Jackson one of several targets up front, a new transfer report has revealed what the Senegal international thinks about the move.

Nicolas Jackson is open to joining Newcastle United this summer

Jackson enjoyed a bright 2024/25 campaign, scoring 10 goals and bagging five assists in the Premier League. The hope would be that Howe can develop him and mould him into a quality forward who can replace Isak when the time comes.

There is no end in sight to the Isak drama, with the Sweden international standing firm over his desire to leave Newcastle this summer. Work was already underway in an effort to find Isak’s replacement. Newcastle came agonisingly close to signing Benjamin Sesko before the striker opted for Manchester United instead.

However, it could be a completely different case with Jackson, as a report from the Telegraph has stated that he hopes to stay in the Premier League, and Newcastle are his ideal destination.

The move would keep Jackson at a club in the Champions League, and somewhere he can prove the doubters wrong if he hits the ground running.

How much will Nicolas Jackson cost Newcastle United?

As it stands, Newcastle are waiting to see how the Isak saga plays out before signing Jackson, but they will take encouragement from the fact that the player is open to the move.

While Newcastle are spending £35million on Malick Thiaw, there should still be room in the transfer kitty to sign a striker and hopefully a midfielder before the summer window closes.

According to the Times, Chelsea hope to get £50million from Jackson this summer, a fee Newcastle will surely be more than happy to pay outright.

Should Jackson stay at Chelsea, he will likely become the third-choice striker following the arrival of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, two players who were on Newcastle’s radar this summer.
