Sesko in training: Man Utd receive double fitness boost ahead of Arsenal clash

Manchester United are gearing up for a blockbuster Premier League opening encounter with Arsenal at Old Trafford this Sunday.

The club have shared an official update from their latest training session.

In a “welcome development”, Andre Onana and Joshua Zirkzee were part of the main training group.

Both players suffered injuries and did not play in any of the pre-season games.

Benjamin Sesko also participated in his first training session at United since his £73.6 million transfer from RB Leipzig.

He could make his competitive debut for the club, alongside Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Diego Leon.

Onana could make an instant return

Despite being injured, both Onana and Zirkzee travelled with the rest of the squad for their tour to the United States.

Manager Ruben Amorim could draft Onana straight into his starting XI.

There have been big question marks over the future of the 29-year-old this summer.

United are tipped to make a move for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

If they sign the Italian superstar, Onana could be shown the exit door.

The 29-year-old has failed to instil confidence in defence by making several blunders at the back.

His deputy, Altay Bayindir, has shown that he is even more vulnerable between the sticks.

Due to a lack of competition, Onana is an automatic starter if he is fully fit and available.

Zirkzee is expected to start on the bench, paving the way for the latest summer signing Sesko to lead United’s attack.

Just like Ramsus Hojlund, Zirkzee endured a difficult 2024–25 season and will aim to get back to his best form this campaign.
