Nicolas Jackson favours a move to Newcastle United should he leave Chelsea before the end of the summer, it has been claimed. Eddie Howe's side remain in the market for a new centre forward after losing out on Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko, and Jackson has emerged as a target.
The 24-year-old is up for sale at Stamford Bridge after falling down the pecking order since the end of last season. The Senegal international, who was Chelsea's No.9 for most of the 2024/25 campaign, has since dropped behind to third-choice behind Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.
Jackson did not feature against either Bayer Leverkusen or AC Milan in Chelsea's two pre-season fixtures across the weekend and speculation has increased around his future. The ex-Villarreal man said to be considering a summer exit, two years since he signed for £32million.
Now, according to The Telegraph, Jackson has accepted that it's time for him to depart Chelsea, with Newcastle his preferred destination. While the Blues are in talks with a number of teams in the Premier League and Europe, Jackson favours a move to St James' Park.
It's not certain whether the Magpies will bid for Jackson - or that the striker will be sold by Chelsea - but all roads are leading to a potential summer move. The Blues want at least double the £32m they paid to sign him in June 2023, with Jackson still having eight years left on his contract.
Jackson scored 13 goals in 37 appearances for Chelsea last season, adding to the 17 he plunged in his debut campaign. He is seen as a solid centre forward option for Premier League clubs, with Tottenham among his other possible suitors as Thomas Frank tries to sign a new striker.
Newcastle's interest in Jackson comes as Alexander Isak continues to be linked with a move to Liverpool. ChronicleLive reported on Monday morning that Isak continues to train in isolation at the club's Benton base with Eddie Howe making it clear over the weekend he is unlikely to feature against Aston Villa in the Premier League curtain raiser.
Liverpool's opening offer of £110m was rejected and the Reds are still exploring whether they can sign the former Real Sociedad attacker. As Isak still has three years left on his contract, his asking price is around £150m.
