Tottenham are interested in Manchester City's Brazilian winger, Savinho, this summer, according to British media reports. While Pep Guardiola's team has rejected the initial approach from the London club, Spurs are not expected to back down and will return with an improved offer.
Manchester City were primarily uninterested in the €50 million offer tabled by the Thomas Frank-managed Tottenham, as the club believes the 21-year-old Brazilian is worth much more. The former Troyes star joined City in 2023 and has four years left on his current deal. City may consider selling the left-footed player who has 13 assists and three goals to his credit from 48 outings.
The New York Times is among the publications that have confirmed that Spurs are still actively tracking Savinho despite the initial setback.
**1.** Son Heung-Min was, without a doubt, the most influential winger in the Tottenham squad in recent times. He could also operate as a striker when needed, thanks to his clinical finishing. However, there is no shortage of players who can light up the flanks in the post-Sonny era. Wilson Odobert, Brennan Johnson, Mohammed Kudus, Mathys Tel, and Dejan Kulusevski are all capable wingers who can do a good job in the position, making people wonder if the Brazilian would be a costly surplus.
**2\.** Kulusevski is nursing a knee injury and will need more time, while Tel is used more as a striker by Spurs. He will have to remain in the attacking position as long as Dominik Solanke remains unfit. Thus, Savinho could add extra depth to the attack, as he is capable of operating on both wings. When needed, the São Paulo-born star could also play as an attacking midfielder.
**3\.** James Maddison's recurring fitness issues are a major concern for the team in the middle of the park. Kudus is often used as a number 10 by his national team, and Thomas Frank might decide to give him the same role this season, the New York Times said. To do that, Frank will need a more reliable winger known for his speed, agility, and dribbling skills, making Savinho a perfect fit.
**4\.** On a personal level, a move could ensure Savinho gets increased playing time. While Pep gave him ample playing time last season, the arrival of French winger Rayan Cherki from Lyon could limit Savinho's opportunities this season.
**5.** Before becoming a Citizen, Savinho had played a season-long loan at Girona, the English giant's sister club in Spain. The Catalan club made a historic run that season, and Savinho's versatility helped them immensely. After having operated on the left wing in La Liga in 2023-24, he switched between both wings under Guardiola the following season. This effectiveness on both wings is said to have impressed Thomas Frank, according to reports.
