Rasmus Hojlund’s future is in jeopardy after Manchester United completed the signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
The Dane came to the club from Atalanta two years ago with plenty of hopes. He started his Man Utd career well by scoring 16 goals in his first season. This form saw him as the main striker for the 2024-25 season.
But, this past season has been a struggle. He had just four PL goals in 32 games. The dip in numbers has seen him slide down the pecking order as Utd push for a sharper attacking edge.
Meanwhile, Sesko brings proven quality from the Bundesliga and the UCL. Now, that puts extra pressure on Hojlund to either step up or move on ahead of the new season.

Despite rumours, Hojlund has made it clear he wants to stay and fight for his place under new boss Ruben Amorim.
Additionally, journalist David Ornstein suggests that there is still a strong chance United will cash in this summer. That is especially after splashing close to £200m in the transfer market. The club would welcome funds from his sale to balance the books. The interest from other clubs could tempt them further.
Amorim still needs depth behind Sesko So, that means Hojlund could yet serve as an impact player off the bench. His work rate could also come in handy.
In the next few days the Dane’s situation will become clearer. Whether he stays in Manchester or opts for a new challenge is uncertain. This potential decision is going to be one of the main talking points of the summer amongst United supporters.
