Tottenham have been keen to strengthen their attack this summer and have been linked with Manchester City attackers Jack Grealish and Savinho.

Spurs failed to bring in Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White this summer.

As a result, despite recruiting Mohammed Kudus for £55million, there is still an emphasis on adding quality attacking options.

While Jack Grealish is now Everton-bound, Savinho remains available, and Tottenham News explores how their transfer fees, wages, and stats compare.

Savinho would be a cheaper option overall

Should Spurs have signed Grealish, it would have been a loan move.

The Englishman is now moving to Everton. However, Tottenham look to have dodged a bullet.

It is reported that a loan move would’ve cost the Lilywhites £12million, and Thomas Frank’s side would have likely had to have covered his wages.

A move for Grealish won’t have included any option to buy, either, making the possible signing a tough one to understand.

Player Weekly wage

Son Heung-min £192,000

James Maddison £172,000

Joao Palhinha £166,000

Grealish would have become Tottenham’s highest-paid player

According to Capology, the winger is on £300,000 a week with the Cityzens, making the overall cost of a season-long loan a possible £27m.

In comparison, Savinho is on £40,000 a week in Manchester.

Should he move to North London, his wage is expected to increase to a possible £80,000 as Tottenham are exploring a permanent move.

His transfer fee is likely to be around £60m, and it is expected that he would sign a long-term deal totalling five years.

That would mean that in total, Tottenham would be paying a total of £80m across the five years for Savinho’s services.

That equates to around £16m a year. Therefore, this is a significantly better deal than the £27m for Grealish.

Savinho and Grealish’s stats compared

Both players offer different qualities to Spurs, with Savinho’s ability to drive at players just as attractive a trait as Grealish’s ability to cut inside.

Savinho contributed to 16 goals across 48 games last season

Grealish only contributed to 10 across 35 appearances

Savinho’s gametime and readiness to slot straight into Spurs’ set up is a lot more of an attractive proposition than Grealish.

The former Villa winger struggled with injuries last season, and given Tottenham’s injury record of their own, Frank won’t want to add to that.

Therefore, should Spurs sign Savinho, it seems like they get the better value transfer.
