Crystal Palace have lost their appeal against UEFA's decision to remove them from this season's Europa League.
On Sunday, the Eagles were celebrating a famous penalty-shootout victory over Liverpool in the Community Shield, a second Wembley triumph in less than three months after beating Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
However, as much attention has been placed on their case with the Court of Arbitration of Sport as they looked to get reinstated to the Europa League after being demoted by UEFA.
That was a consequence of the governing body ruling that Palace had breached multi-club ownership rules with John Textor having been the majority owner of Lyon at the time of a March 1 deadline.
Textor has since sold his stake in the Eagles in an attempt to support their claim that the American did not have any decisive influence behind the scenes at Selhurst Park.

Palace fail with CAS appeal
Nevertheless, on the back of Friday's case being heard, CAS announced on Monday that they had rejected Palace's appeal.
CAS gave three specific reasons as to why UEFA's decision would stand, reiterating that regulations are clear and do not provide any flexibility to clubs that are non-compliant on the assessment date of March 1.
Furthermore, CAS supported UEFA's claim that Textor had a decisive influence on that date, while it was also dismissed that Palace had been treated unfairly in comparison to Lyon and Forest.
Therefore, Forest will take Palace's place in the League Phase of the Europa League with Palace having to drop down into the Conference League playoffs.

Who will Palace play in Conference League?
Oliver Glasner's side will now be in Conference League action in just 10 days time when they will play either Fredrikstad or FC Midtjylland.
As it stands, it appears highly likely that Palace will be squaring off against Midtjylland after the Danish side won the first leg in Norway by a 3-1 scoreline.
The second leg of that tie takes place on Thursday, with Palace hosting whoever prevails on aggregate at Selhurst Park on August 21.
Before then, Palace make the short trip to play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on August 17.
