Reports suggest Manchester United are on the verge of snapping up teenage goalkeeper Charlie Hardy from Derby County.
Amorim’s first full season takes shape
Head coach Ruben Amorim is settling into his first full season in charge. Manchester United’s summer has been busy both on and off the pitch.
The club went through its most disappointing PL campaign last year. Now, the boss has used pre-season to test his tactics and bring in players that fit his system. The Red Devils remain unbeaten in four friendlies so far.
Amorim’s system has been boosted by the arrivals of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha. They both are likely to play as creative players in his 3-4-2-1 setup. Additionally, signing Benjamin Sesko has only bolstered the club’s attack.
Now, rumors continue about a new first choice goalkeeper as Andre Onana is still under a lot of criticism. This comes after his two tough seasons at Old Trafford.

United tracking Derby County youngster
The search for a quick Onana replacement may continue. Now, Man Utd are reportedly closing in on a deal for 15-year-old Charlie Hardy from Derby County.
Hardy is just a teenager but has already played for Derby’s under-18 team. He is considered as one of the most promising young goalkeeping talents in the country. Clearly, he has caught the eye of a few clubs, but Utd appear to be in the lead.
The potential deal nicely fits with INEOS’s idea since taking over the club. That has been to invest in young players with potential.
Earlier in the window, they did some teenage business with Enzo Kana-Biyik and Harley Emsden-James. Given that, they are clearly planning. Hardy will likely not be ready for first-team football any time soon. But, the hope is that being in Carrington will allow him to develop into a future player.
For Man Utd fans, it is another reminder that there is a long-term structure that’s being put in place.
