Greek Super League side PAOK have emerged as serious contenders to sign Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga, with reports indicating strong interest as the summer transfer window heats up.
The 25-year-old Belgian international, who has struggled for regular game time at the Emirates, is reportedly on PAOK’s shortlist, with negotiations expected to progress in the coming days.
According to Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos, PAOK are “highly interested” in the versatile midfielder, viewing him as a key reinforcement for their upcoming domestic campaign and potential European fixtures.
Sources suggest the deal could initially be structured as a loan with an option to buy, although Arsenal would prefer a permanent transfer to recoup part of the £15 million fee they paid Anderlecht in 2021.
Lokonga has made just 39 Premier League appearances across three seasons under Mikel Arteta, spending time on loan at Crystal Palace and Luton Town, the latter during their relegation battle last season.

PAOK, led by manager Razvan Lucescu, are seeking to build a squad capable of challenging for the Greek title and making an impact in the UEFA Champions League playoffs after finishing second last term. The club believes Lokonga could provide both depth and quality in central midfield, potentially forming a strong partnership with their existing options.
Greek outlets Sport24 and Sportime have confirmed PAOK’s interest, noting that the club is actively exploring the player’s situation and could soon formalise an offer.
With the transfer deadline approaching, Arsenal are eager to finalise Lokonga’s future to focus on incoming reinforcements. While other clubs in England and Europe have shown interest, PAOK’s pursuit appears the most advanced.
If completed, the move would represent another step in Arsenal’s ongoing squad overhaul, while giving Lokonga the opportunity for consistent first-team football and a chance to reignite his career.
