And they now know in which competitions those two teams will have been involved – providing Palace survive a play-off round.
Palace today lost their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against their demotion from the Europa League and will play in the Conference League this season.
The FA Cup winners were demoted by European football’s governing body UEFA on July 11 after it determined that as of March 1, American businessman John Textor had control or influence at both Palace and French club Lyon.
Palace would have been granted direct entry to the Europa League league phase but now have a two-legged play-off against the losers of the Europa League qualifier between Fredrikstad and Midtjylland.
The first leg is scheduled to take place at Selhurst Park on August 21 and the away leg on August 28.
Nottingham Forest – who travel to Selhurst Park for Palace’s first home league game on August 24 – are expected to take the Europa League place.
Albion are listed to go to Selhurst Park on Saturday, November 8.
But there are Conference League fixtures on Thursday, November 6 so that game will be pushed back if Palace are involved.
Similarly, the Seagulls are listed to go to Nottingham Forest on Saturday, Saturday, 29.
But matchday five in the Europa League group stage is on Thursday, November 27, so the trip to the City Ground would be rescheduled.
Palace’s trip to the Amex in early February will not be affected by European fixtures.
But the home game with Forest, currently down for February 28, will be rescheduled if the Trent men are involved in the knockout phase play-offs.
