Man Utd fans name Man of the Match vs Fiorentina as‘unbelievable’player who‘knows all positions’is clear winner

Bruno Fernandes was beaten to the Manchester United fans’ pick for the Man of the Match award against Fiorentina after a Ruben Amorim favourite came out on top.

Manchester United hosted Fiorentina at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon for the Red Devils’ final pre-season campaign match under Ruben Amorim this summer.

Fiorentina stunned United inside the opening 10 minutes of the friendly contest after the Red Devils switched off from a corner and Simon Sohm netted from close range.

However, United rallied back in the first half and pulled level at Old Trafford after Robin Gosens turned the ball past David de Gea from a Bruno Fernandes corner.

United and Fiorentina went into the break with a 1-1 scoreline on the board and neither the Premier League side nor the Serie A club could break the deadlock again.

The Snapdragon Cup tie was ultimately settled on penalties and all five spot-kick takers for United converted past Fiorentina shot-stopper Tommaso Martinelli.

What Ruben Amorim said about Mason Mount’s performance against Fiorentina perfectly sums up Man Utd star

Mason Mount was deployed up front alongside Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha and the former Chelsea star was lively in Amorim’s tactical system for United.

The 26-year-old United No 7 played 84 minutes before he was hooked off for Manuel Ugarte, but Mount’s display against Fiorentina on the weekend caught Amorim’s eye.

Speaking after the pre-season result at Old Trafford, Amorim praised Mount’s ability to know “all positions” and his instincts to move around the pitch so effortlessly.

“It’s unbelievable the way he [Mason Mount] works, moving all the time from positions,” he told MUTV, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“He knows all positions, but also the other guys; it was a good test to prepare the first team.”

United will now kick off their 2025-26 Premier League campaign under Amorim on Sunday when the Red Devils host rivals Arsenal at Old Trafford.
