Man Utd hold talks to sign £300,000-a-week star in 'the last few days', Amorim really likes him …

Manchester United have held direct meetings for Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in recent days, according to reports from CentreDevils.

The Old Trafford side are looking to bring in a new shot-stopper before the transfer deadline on September 1 and have identified the Italy international as one of the options, alongside Royal Antwerp ace Senne Lammens.

Ruben Amorim is said to be a big fan of Donnarumma and is now seriously considering a pursuit, with PSG open to his departure following Lucas Chevalier’s arrival from Lille.

Donnarumma is one of the best-paid goalkeepers in the world, with reports claiming he earns around £300,000 per week at Parc des Princes.

The 26-year-old is under contract for only another season with PSG, which could open up the possibility of a low-cost deal to bring Donnarumma to Old Trafford this summer.

According to CentreDevils, Man United are still assessing their goalkeeping options internally but have Donnarumma high on their list as Amorim ‘likes him a lot’:

United have splashed out over £200m on new arrivals this summer, with the likes of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko joining.

A deal for Sesko was only completed last week, following a lengthy battle with Newcastle for the 22-year-old forward, who penned a contract until June 2030 with the Red Devils.

United have also explored the signing of a new midfielder in recent days, with Brighton starlet Carlos Baleba emerging as their top target.

A deal for the 21-year-old midfielder remains difficult at this stage, as Brighton have no intention to sell, while personal terms are not expected to be an issue, with talks ongoing with Baleba’s representatives.

Donnarumma, widely regarded as one of the world’s best goalkeepers, would bring significant experience and title-winning pedigree to Old Trafford this summer, having won 12 major trophies during his club and international career so far.

The Italian shot-stopper helped PSG lift the treble last season – the club’s first in history – with victories in Ligue 1, Coupe de France and Champions League.
