West Ham have been busy in the transfer market recently as the summer window races towards deadline day.
With less than a month to go, the Hammers have added a mix of youth and experience to the squad, signing players like Kyle Walker-Peters and El Hadji Malick Diouf to bolster the defence, while up front, Callum Wilson and Mads Hermansen have arrived to sharpen the attack and secure the goalkeeper spot.
But as the new arrivals come in, some familiar faces have left—Michail Antonio, Vladimir Coufal, and Aaron Cresswell all gone.
And now it looks like another player could have been on his way out—if only the offer had been worth West Ham’s while.

According to Claret & Hugh, West Ham have turned down a recent offer for forward Maxwell Cornet, describing the bid as “derisory.”
The Ivorian joined the Hammers from Burnley in 2022 for £17.5 million but has struggled to make an impact, scoring just once in 37 appearances. Last season, he was loaned out twice—first to Southampton, where he managed just two games, and then to Genoa, where he found the net twice in seven outings.
Now deemed surplus to requirements at the London Stadium, West Ham reportedly received a new offer for Cornet, likely from Genoa given previous talks with the Serie A club. The bid was immediately rejected by West Ham sources, with one reportedly calling it “derisory.”
While the offer was probably for another loan deal, West Ham would be open to selling Cornet outright—even at a significant loss—if the right price came along.
Despite his recent struggles, Cornet’s early career showed promise. At Lyon, the versatile attacker, capable of playing anywhere across the front line or even at left-back, once earned high praise from Pep Guardiola after scoring twice against Manchester City in the Champions League.
But given the current situation, it’s safe to say it’s not Guardiola knocking on West Ham’s door this time.
