Mads Bidstrup breaks silence on future after Nottingham Forest transfer links

Nottingham Forest's rumoured 'top' target of the summer transfer window has spoken out on his future for the first time.

Mads Bidstrup, a Danish international midfielder for Austrian Bundesliga outfit RB Salzburg, has recently been linked with a move to the City Ground.

The 24-year-old has really made a name for himself out in Austria, last season making 44 appearances across all competitions as the club captain helped Die Roten Bullen finish runners-up to SK Sturm Graz.

Bidstrup also featured under Thomas Letsch during the recent FIFA Club World Cup tournament in the US, which was won by Chelsea after they beat Paris Saint-Germain in last month's final.

Fans may recognise the player from his days at Premier League rivals Brentford, where he endured a tough time of it before leaving for pastures new.

Now, after reinvigorating his career, Bidstrup could be set to make a landmark return to England—and he's finally broken his silence.

Speaking to Austrian news outlet Laola 1, he said: "I’m really happy here. I like the city and the club, I really feel at home.

"I’m focusing only on Salzburg. After that, there are three weeks until the end of the transfer window. We’ll see."

It comes after Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg claimed in a post on X: "Forest have added RB Salzburg midfielder and captain Mads Bidstrup to the top of their shortlist. The 24-year-old central midfielder is under contract with RB Salzburg until 2028."

Should Bidstrup sign on the dotted line, however, he will become Nuno Espirito Santo's fifth summer signing after Angus Gunn, Dan Ndoye, and Brazilian duo Igor Jesus and Jair Cunha made their way through the City Ground entrance doors.
